Stock and Security Gifts

Gifts of appreciated assets can be used to maximize your giving and avoid capital gains tax. By transferring ownership of an appreciated asset, instead of selling the asset and then making a cash gift, a donor avoids capital gains tax.

Employer Matching Gifts

Take advantage of the opportunity to double your giving. In some cases employers will triple your gift through their employer matching gift program. In 2011-2012 we received over $35,000 in matching gift funds. Check with your employer's Human Resource or Benefits department to inquire about matching gift opportunities.

Partner in Preparing

By becoming a Partner in Preparing you join hundreds of other donors who commit to make an automatic monthly gift to support the CIU ministry. You can designate your gift to allowances, student aid or another fund of your interest.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

Enroll online by using our secure form. Once you've filled it out, your donation to CIU will be deducted from your credit/debit card or bank account on the 5th, 10th, or 20th of each month.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving or Deferred Givign are giving opportunities that provide tax savings. Below are some ways you can give to support the ministry of Columbia International University. You can also click on the Resources tab at the bottom of this page to request more information or for someone to contact you.

Annuities

A gift annuity supports you and it supports us. Iti s a practical plan that supports your living needs by providing you with a regular return on your gift to the ministries of Columbia International University.

Trusts

A trust is similar to an annuity in that it provides you with a regular return on your gift to the ministries of Columbia International University. There are multiple variations of trusts and one of our professional staff will be happy to meet with you to help you understand your options. A trust can be established at CIU with a minimum gift of $50,000.

Wills

Your will is a legal document that allows you to dictate the distribution of your assets upon your death. We provide extensive help in the establishment of yoru will by employing a confidential Will and Trust Planning Guide. This remarkable tool is free for the asking.

Appreciated assets/stocks

The donation of appreciated assets provides an opportunity to avoid capital gains tax, make a significant gift to this ministry and take a charitable deduction. Appreciated assets can be used to fund both annuities and trusts.

Life insurance

You can purchase a life insurance policy in which you name Columbia International University as the owner of the policy. Premiums on the policy are tax deductible.
