Alumni of the Year

It is our sincere desire in presenting the Alumni of the Year Awards that God may receive praise and glory for the display of His grace and faithfulness in the lives of the recipients. We would commend each honoree as an "example to the believers" in character, excellence, and in faithfulness to the high calling, "To Know Him and To Make Him Known."

Ralph Enlow (1972, 1982)

Alumnus of the Year, November 2017

Enlow 2017Dr. Enlow served for 28 years as an educational leader at CIU, including six years as senior vice president and provost. Today he serves as president of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) which includes over 200 higher education institutions throughout North America. Dr. Enlow's involvment in theological higher education also includes service as a consultant, institutional self-study director, accreditation team chair, and chair of ABHE's Commision on Accreditation.

Paul Tripp (1972)

Alumnus of the Year, November 2016

Tripp 2016Pastor/Author/Counselor/Professor/ Conference Speaker. Paul’s driving passion is to help people understand how the gospel of Jesus Christ speaks with practical hope into a broken world. Paul received an M.Div from Reformed Episcopal Seminary and a D.Min in Biblical Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary. He pastored a church in PA for 11 years; founded a Christian school, taught at the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation and at Westminster Theological Seminary. With a heart for pastors, Paul founded the Center for Pastoral Life and Care where he currently serves as executive director. He and his wife, Luella Jackson (’72) have four grown children.

Dr. David T. Chow (1975)

Alumnus of the Year 2015

Chow-DavidPastor/Leader/Evangelist. Dr. David Chow (’75) is the president of Ambassadors for Christ, Inc. (AFC) continuing the work that his father, Moses Chow (’58) started. His heart is to see the Chinese churches and the Chinese be a force for God's kingdom. He thoroughly embodies CIU's values of world evangelization and evangelical unity, through AFC's mission of reaching the Chinese intellectuals and through his work to partner with Chinese churches to advocate for missions and discipleship. He and his wife Karen have four children; Dalen, Daniel, Dennis (CIU graduate 2012) and Karissa. David’s sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Patrick Liao both graduated from CIU in 1975.

Rev. Moses Chow (1958) 

Alumnus of the Year 2015 Awarded Posthumously

Moses ChowPastor/Leader/Evangelist.  Rev Moses Chow (’58) and his wife Wendy served with the Ling Liang Worldwide Evangelistic Mission spreading the gospel in South-East Asia, Japan, United States, Europe and Africa. He co-founded Ambassadors for Christ, Inc. (AFC) with the vision to reach the Chinese intellectuals, and also started South East Asia Evangelistic Foundation to support young missionaries so they could be fully dedicated to the ministry of the gospel. Moses and Wendy have five children, seventeen grand-children and two great-grand children. He left a great spiritual legacy for many to follow. Moses passed away in 2008. 


William (Bill) T. Harding III (1950)

Alumnus of the Year, October 2014

HardingPastor/Missionary/Translator. Bill and his late wife Elaine (’50) served for over 30 years in Ethiopia teaching pastors and helping grow hundreds of new congregations. They went to Ethiopia in 1954 with SIM, studied Amharic and achieved what he called “a joyful fluency that allowed me to preach”. In February 2013 the doors to the Harding Bible School opened. The school that honors the Harding’s efforts continues to reach far beyond traditional missionary work. Bill and his wife Betty continue to serve God with SIM.
